Unneeded/expired prescription drugs? Take-Back Day this Saturday

Keeping unneeded, unwanted, and/or expired prescription medicine around the house is a bad idea for a variety of reasons. Tossing it in the trash or emptying it down the drain is a bad idea, too. So what to do? Get rid of it this Saturday (September 27th), 10 am-2 pm, during the next Take-Back Day. The official local drop-off spot will once again be the Seattle Police Southwest Precinct at Webster/Delridge.

    Thank you for “reminding” me!

I have a routine Dr.s appointment this evening, and a few months back the topic of old meds came up. My Provider mentioned that I could always bring them to an appt. SO, in seeing this, I put them in my backpack! :-)

You can always take prescriptions into Bartells, unless it is a controlled substance. Controlled substances have to go to the police station.

Note that they have to have the lables on them. I tried to drop off some meds, last year, after taking the labels off (didn’t want my name out there) and they couldn’t take them.

Thanks, Alan, I had forgotten that.

Ace, thank you too. I have wondered about that; as to whether I should leave the labels on. I’m not too comfortable having my name and Hospital Patient Number out there. I would trust Bartell’s in general, but still would have some concern.

I went ahead and took my old ones (a couple I hadn’t been on for around 2 1/2 years!) up to my appointment at Harborview, and apparently they dump the pills into a container for proper disposal, and then the vial with the label goes into the same container as documents that are to be shredded.
