At least one person is reported hurt in a multiple-vehicle crash that is blocking one lane each way on 35th at Juneau. Police are just arriving at the scene to help with traffic control. Traffic is getting by in the outside lane each way but that might change; a civilian is waving traffic around while police assess the scene. First fire personnel to arrive reported one person was unconscious. The two vehicles involved are side-by-side facing south.

9:22 PM UPDATE: Went back to check; crash scene is clear.

  1. Hope the guy was not drunk. He seemed to be acting that way.

  2. Is that 3 accidents already this year right at 35th & Juneau, or am I compressing time in my old age? Thank you for covering this.

  3. Yes, you’re right. Three in recent memory anyway.

  4. For those of us who live near this intersection, sadly, collisions have become routine.

  5. I think we need to have more stoplights (and turn only lights) on 35th to give cars a chance to safely turn and to generally slow down the traffic. Not a popular idea probably, but safer.

  6. I agree, it doesnt seem like it’d really impact travel time much, its just not that many miles of road. But thats usually the complaint; adding lights would make it take 2 hours to get to work or similar nonsense. The safety assessment of 35th must still be going on, haven’t seen anything on plans to improve it yet except the useless no left turn at Raymond or whatever that was. Which will absolutely create more collisions at Juneau – the next street with no light. Every morning, a line of 5-6 cars waiting to free left at Juneau, zero cars at the light one block S @ Raymond. Never fails, they come up Raymond, take a left at 36th, drive up one block to Juneau where theres no light. SDOT is a very poorly run organization.

  7. Another day, another accident along 35th. Time to pave it over and shut it down.
