Update: Small fire at house in 5200 block of Delridge, no one hurt

1:53 PM: Seattle Fire has a house-fire-sized response headed for an address in the 5200 block of Delridge Way SW (map). Smoke can be seen from the house. More as we get it.

2:08 PM: SFD tweets that it was a “room fire” and it’s out now. Nobody hurt. Investigators will be working to figure out how it started.

2:14 PM: Our crew at the scene says Delridge is closed because of the fire vehicles, and they expect to be there another 45 minutes or so. The fire apparently started in/on a mattress, and nobody was home, according to the incident commander. (Added: Closure zone is roughly Findlay to Hudson.)

4:27 PM: Added a photo of the aforementioned mattress (what’s left of it). Thanks to everyone who’s provided updates on the road status – as of 4 pm, says Betsy, it’s open (we just drove through, too, to confirm) and the Red Cross is there to help.

    Southbound traffic is being re-routed at Hudson and Delridge

    Lots of traffic on 26th/Hudson – even saw a Metro bus maneuver the traffic circle and speed bumps!

    I live on 25th between Brandon and Hudson. Tons of traffic coming down 25th. I know the street is close to at least Brandon going southbound.

    Speaking of fires, was there any update on the fire off Holden awhile back where the body was found? Last I recalled the cause of dealth hadn’t been released and it was considered suspicious.

      Yes, we have mentioned this in a variety of spots but have never quite gotten enough for a standalone. We mentioned in our report on the Block Watch Captains’ Meeting that Capt. Wilske (precinct commander) said there was no evidence of homicide or foul play. The final ruling on her cause of death, though, still is awaiting toxicology tests.

    Still closed/blocked at 3:45 with just a police car blocking the road. Gridlock through the neighboring side streets.

      Lonnie said it was as of 3:45. If we don’t hear an all-clear in about 10 more minutes, we’ll go see what’s up.

    Delridge is clear. I went by at 3:40 and it was blocked, at 4:00 it was clear and Red Cross response was already there. I was impressed!
