Followup: Southwest Precinct police find missing children

A (relatively) short but scary drama played out Friday afternoon on Pigeon Point – a search for two children who got lost. We did not have enough information to report on it until now, with the details that accompanied the photo:

Yesterday afternoon a large amount of SPD officers converged on the greenbelt behind Pathfinder (K-8) in search of two missing girls (ages 3 & 9). The younger one had run into the woods and her older sister followed to find her. They couldn’t find their way out and were missing for 2+ hours. Officers spent a long time searching the greenbelt for the children. Thankfully, they were found by Officer Nicholson. They were barefoot, soaking wet, and shivering. She carried them both out and returned them home. The girls were very cold and scared but safe.

I wanted to share this picture with your blog readers. All of the officers who searched for these children exude the professionalism and compassion that makes the Southwest Precinct truly outstanding.

Indeed, the face says it all. 2 hours would feel like an eternity, as any parent who’s lost their child for even 2 minutes knows! Glad they are both home safely, and a reassuring reminder that we are so fortunate to live in a place where help is on the way.

Nice work SPD. And huge praise to the 9 year old sister who was brave and caring enough to follow after her sibling. That is one amazing little girl!

My first thought was also that the image says it all; the little girl basically melting against Officer Nicholson, and the look on Officer Nicholson’s face.

    Great job, SPD!

Thank you to all of the officers, but especially Officer Nicholson. We recently had a burglary at our house and she responded and immediately put me and my 3 year old at ease. He is still talking about the sticker badge she gave him.

Officer Jennifer is so kind and sweet! I had an experience where she was on scene, I’ve never meet anyone so caring. She even called me later to see how I was. Here’s to a big round of yea! and hope you are Officer of the year!

Sorry, comment time is over.
