April 30, 2014 at 7:15 am | In West Seattle news, West Seattle traffic alerts | 10 Comments

Bright sunshine as we look at the West Seattle Bridge above and, below, northbound 99 at the south end of the elevated Alaskan Way Viaduct:

More cameras, and other info, are on the WSB Traffic page. None of this morning’s regional traffic problems are in our area, so far. But forgetting the sunglasses could be a problem.

8:16 AM UPDATE: From “Enough” in comments: “Heavy eastbound today. Backed up from 35th.”

8:29 AM UPDATE: This won’t make things any better – right-side crash on northbound 5 just past the bridge exit, tweets KING 5′s Tracy Taylor. (A few minutes later – now described as two lanes blocked northbound near Olive.)

9:10 AM: Not blocking traffic, but @scruffydiver just tweeted a fender-bender report from The Triangle involving a classic car:

  7. Trying to find out. We were just over taking a photo of that after someone asked about it. There’s a project coming up there that wasn’t supposed to start until July.

  8. Sorry if this has been posted on the home page already, but does anyone know what they are doing midday eastbound on the SSV just after the 99 underpass?

The left lane has been blocked all week. Not a huge backup, just curious what on earth could need fixing on this new structure.

  9. Remember that the eastbound lanes are NOT new – the westbound side is what was built – the eastbound side is the old structure. They’ve done some announced work in recent weeks on the surfacing, which had problems. I’ll have to ask SDOT about it because there was no announcement about more lane-blocking work this week … TR
