West Seattle Bridge traffic alert: 1 hurt in 1-vehicle crash

March 18, 2014 at 8:01 pm | In West Seattle news, West Seattle traffic alerts | 6 Comments

8:01 PM: There’s a major “heavy rescue” response on the eastbound Spokane Street Viaduct right now around 4th Avenue South. A texter tells us a car is on or into the divider, so it might be affecting westbound traffic too. More as we get it.

8:15 PM: From SFD via Twitter:

  1. SUV(?)is up on the 1st Avenue Off-Ramp Divider. Passenger wheels on concrete, driver’s wheels up on the barrier.

Drove by westbound few minutes ago…WB traffic slowing to look, not afffected by rescue.

  3. Is it me or do you realize that Seattle has been, “Bad newsed out?” Lack of comments tonight shows our grief.

  4. I drove past ths going west and thought the car was on the divider between the WS bridge and the entrance ramp to 99. Coming back east I saw it was the exit for 4th Ave. Not sure what happened, if someone over-corrected trying to avoid another car or made a decision too late. It appeared to be an older Bronco SUV and had hit the divider hard enough to land halfway on top of it. I hope the driver is okay!! Our emergency personnel eally had a tough day, I hope we can take time to appreciate how hard their jobs are and how much we value them! Thank you to the firefighters and EMTs!

  5. Freaky coincidence… Two biggest incidences on real time 911 was this at 7:40 PM and the heli crash at 7:40 AM exactly.
