West Seattle restaurants: Matador to close March 9-14 for remodeling

If you’re a fan of Matador in The Junction, mark your calendar: They just announced plans to close for remodeling starting Sunday, March 9th, until a scheduled reopening at 4 pm Friday, March 14th. The announcement says, “The interior will be redone with reclaimed barn wood accents and new metalwork will be added to the decor. There will be more seating added, including several new booths and an expansion of the fire-pit area, and a completely new floor. Owner Zak Melang will be hand-crafting all new tables, and a new bar top.” Matador will mark its 9th anniversary in West Seattle this summer.

Look forward to seeing it, it’s already really nice in there. Are they ditching the old tables? I bet someone would love those.

I hope the new remodel is going to allow kids to come in during family hours!!! We would go there more often for sure!!

Couldn’t agree more with Westseattleite – we went to Matador weekly before kid and we miss it dearly.

Actually, I like their kid-free atmosphere, and I’m a parent. It’s nice to have a grown-up place to go to.

Just one person’s opinion but I think we have enough kid-friendly places in WS.

Anyway, kudos to the Matador! Hard to believe its been 9 years already …

but, yeah, i’ve always thought that the space could be re-flowed. (re-flown?) the fire pit is awesome, but it would be nice if it was more like a backyard fire pit, e.g. with more seating around it.

Keep Matador 21+ all times. Find a babysitter if this is the place you want to go to

Sorry, comment time is over.
