West Seattle Crime Watch: Four reader reports

Four West Seattle Crime Watch reader reports to share:

From Kami, a hit-and-run in Arbor Heights – with this damage done:

I live on 110th St SW and sometime (New Year’s Eve) my father in law’s car, which was parked on the street, was hit and sadly no note left. Part of their light and small pieces from their car were lying in our yard. It looks to be a GMC truck, white in color.

From Jen, tire-slashing near 45th and Lander:

I’m very late in sending this out but wanted to inform the community that last Sat. 12/28/13 we walked outside our house around 11:20am to find that both, my husband & my cars’ tires (the two on the driver’s side) were either slashed or punctured. We found a slash mark on the back of his tire on the driver’s side. …

Since the damage was over $500, an officer had to come to our house to file a report. We’re hoping it’s a random act & no one else has to deal with this expensive and time-sucking ordeal.

From Ron:

All mailboxes at Green Acres apartments were broken into Monday evening. 5656 California Avenue.

From CC:

Just want to let you know my car was broken into between Friday the 27th 3 pm and Monday the 30th 10 pm. Didn’t use my car for a few days; it was parked in the alley between 42nd and 41st (in) north Morgan junction.

Took registration and a power inverter. May have gotten scared off as it seems only the glove box and dash pocket were gone through. Doors were still locked – that’s really weird.

I’ve taken everything else out of the car, nothing of value in there in the first place anyway. Just moved to the WS area 4 months ago…what a welcome!

P.S. The West Seattle Crime Prevention Council resumes its meetings this month – 7 pm Tuesday, January 21st, at the Southwest Precinct (Delridge/Webster).

Here is a new one for me, and maybe for you… while I was getting ready for extended vacation I thoroughly cleaned my home. Part of this was lifting part of stove up and cleaning underneath. I admit that I have been in my home for 10 plus years and never before cleaned it so well.
What surprised me is that, I , believe it or not, found part of a human tooth imbedded in my stove. I am a registered nurse and believe I would know a tooth, or bone, when I see one. Three options I consider:
1- the tooth came to rest there before I bought the house.
2- my exboyfriend had very bad teeth. Even so don’t know how it got lodged in my stove? He did like to cook for me…but?
3- the nasty person who broke into my house and violently destroyed everything I owned, and left a hammer, was somehow injured during break in.

Does anyone have any ideas…. maybe it is just a tooth. I have pretty much forgotten about it… because its weird and I don’t understand. Other than the break in….

K – finding a tooth like that is actually very common. In some parts of the world it is believed to bring you good luck, significant wealth, & endless romance!

Although in other parts of the world it means your luck has run dry, you will develop an annoying rash that will last 6 years, & gorilla-like hair growth will emerge on your back & chest.

    I wouldn’t worry, you’ll be fine! :-)

And in some parts of the world it could be the start of an NCIS or Law & Order script. I would be weirded out, to say the least. Anyway, K has informed us via e-mail that police have been alerted, just in case. – TR
