TRAFFIC/TRANSIT TODAY: Wednesday updates

(More area traffic cams on the WSB Traffic page)
Welcome to Wednesday! No major incidents in the commute zone so far.

Now that it’s Wednesday, a weekend reminder – 99 north of downtown is closing again this weekend as part of the Mercer project, so from late Friday night until Monday morning, northbound 99 traffic will be detoured off at Western.

The low bridge is closed to traffic again. We got to the bridge just as it opened to traffic only to see it close again a few minutes later. Still waiting for it to open.

The low bridge can close to land traffic at any time. SDOT tweets about it but not with any major heads-up, but you can follow in case it’s of use, http://twitter.com/seattledot – TR

Gosh golly, 8:14 and just turned off the AC. Been up since 4:30 AM and it’s getting pretty toasty. Cutsey emoticon inserted here.

The low bridge closes every wed morning – does anyone know why? Must be a scheduled delivery or something?

I think Wednesday is barge day for Alaska Marine Lines.

Crossed the lower bridge around 7:30 today and there was either an accident or some issue with a semi heading west onto the lower bridge. Put the EB and WB lanes to a dead stop for probably 10 minutes. Didn’t look like anything serious, maybe just a stalled semi, but there was a cop helping guide traffic. That probably added to the slow down for the lower bridge and cars behind us. I’m sure some people thought the bridge was opening because nobody was moving.
