West Seattle traffic alert: Crash on Delridge Way

11:13 AM: Thanks to the texter who reports a two-vehicle crash is blocking much of Delridge Way SW at Puget Boulevard (map). Emergency personnel are just arriving; we’re on the way to check it out.

11:33 AM: Traffic is getting through via one lane, alternating. One person has been taken to the hospital, we’re told at the scene, the driver of a Ford Ranger that collided with a Jeep Cherokee. We don’t know anything about their condition yet but will be checking with SFD.

7:56 PM UPDATE: SFD spokesperson Kyle Moore tells us, “Medics transported a 53-year-old male driver who was T-boned. He was unconscious but gained consciousness before we transported. At transport, he was alert, oriented, and breathing, and taken to Harborview in stable condition.”

Delridge Way could use some speed busts especially around the STEM school area.

There should be enough potholes to slow everyone down.

@helridge. Unfortunately they fixed Delridge and made it all smooth n nice. 35th is going to the be the safest road soon with all the potholes.

    I agree with Delridgian!
The STEM school is what scares me. It’s a 20 mph zone. I’ve had metro drivers honking and waving their arms and shaking their fists as they tailgate me through the area. I rolled down my window and pointed to the kids at recess and the kinder students lining up by a bus out front. It didn’t make a difference.
I have also seen SPD officers fly through there still going 35mph, no lights or sirens, just ignoring the speed limit.
Those examples are few and far between compared to the number of irate people PASSING me in front of the school!

    Shame on all of them!

Sorry, comment time is over.
