Update: Short-lived fire callout in Morgan Junction

3:55 PM: Seattle Fire is responding to Cal-Mor Circle, the cylindrical apartment building at 6420 California SW – and they have just confirmed it’s a “food on the stove” situation. That’s per the scanner; we’re headed over to doublecheck.

4:06 PM UPDATE: Fire crews are packing up, but until they’re gone, northbound traffic on California just north of Fauntleroy is blocked, so avoid this area for a bit.

4:27 PM UPDATE: Thomas reports in comments that northbound is reopening. No injuries reported, by the way.

I hope that’s all it was, the fire response was insane. I saw at least 8 fire trucks &SUVs and California Ave was completely blocked off.

It is a MANDATORY huge response if there’s a possible fire in any kind of residential or commercial building, from a single-family home to an apartment building like this (or bigger). It’s a common question but it really can be a matter of life or death – better to have everybody there and then cancel what’s not needed, then have one unit get there, discover something big and have to call for more – Anyway, our crew says they’re packing up; they didn’t even have to break out the hoses – TR
