Seen from West Seattle: 2013 cruise-ship season finale

Traveling around Duwamish Head a little while ago, we noticed three cruise ships in port – Celebrity Century at downtown’s Pier 66 above, Holland-America Line’s Oosterdam and Sapphire Princess at Magnolia’s Pier 91 below.

Checking our story from the start of this year’s cruise-ship season, we verified this is the end – last day on the Port of Seattle‘s 2013 cruise-ship schedule.

Heck of a finale. “Welcome to Seattle, enjoy the semi-apocalyptic weather during your stay.”

I’ll miss their regal sailings out to sea every week. It was fun to watch from the beach! It looked like a waterborne ‘March of the Elephants’..

I heard they stayed overnight because the weather wouldn’t let the ships leave yesterday!

Century was scheduled to be here overnight (interesting itinerary for their Pacific Coast repositioning cruise) – not sure about Princess – but Oosterdam was supposed to leave yesterday and I suspected it was a weather delay, though I never heard back from the port to confirm it. Off now on what looks like a dream itinerary to Australia. Thanks!
