West Seattle Crime Watch: Seen this stolen Subaru?

Keep watch for this light-blue 1992 Subaru Legacy, license plate 062ZXW. Its owner sent the photo and reports, “Our beloved Subaru was stolen from the 4100 block of SW Rose today. Please keep your eyes open.” Call 911 if you have seen it or have any information about it.

(P.S. We hope you never have to deal with vehicle theft – but just in case, be sure you have a photo of your car, pickup, bicycle, scooter, whatever, handy – take one with your phone right now and save it. This car’s owners happened to have one and perhaps it will help in the search.)

Unfortunately, older Subarus are the hot car to steal now. I had mine stolen last month and it was recovered the next day, totalled. Invest in a club.

To the owners of the stolen Subaru, and Mmh: so sorry. I own an “age-ed” Subaru. Our old cars aren’t worth much in parts. They’re most likely targeted as easy prey for “rides to some where else”. I hope your car shows up in reasonable condition…I know how I would feel.

Our Subaru was just recovered 4 blocks away with minimal damage. Theif was arrested. Police took two bikes that were on the bike rack on our car. Not ours so possibly stolen.

Thanks for the update. I was just looking at the SPD “auto-tweets” that we aggregate on the Crime Watch page and noticed two calls coded as “auto recovery,” so was hoping that they meant somebody would get their car back … TR

Yesterday I was parked at 47th and admiral. next to the coffee shop. I had my bike rack with my bike on it. All locked up. I came outside to get something at 8:30p. Some jerk had taken a drill to my drivers side door. Obviously they got scared off before they could get inside. I can’t open my drivers side door at all. I’m very happy they didn’t steal my car. I emptied everything out of it. And put my club up in the front so I can use it again.

I’m done with the “bold” criminals. Just shoot the bastards. I’ll contribute to the defense fund.

Our judges just let car thieves go when they’re caught. To any victim of car theft, I’m sorry – it must be a tremendous invasion. We’re the 4th worst city in America for car theft – and no one’s doing anything about it.

Sorry, comment time is over.
