West Seattle road work: California SW repaving next week, Graham to Fauntleroy

Between The Junction and Morgan Junction, over the past year or so, California SW has been getting repaved a block or two at a time. Another section is on the schedule: According to the West Seattle section of SDOT‘s weekly “Construction Lookahead,” California SW will be repaved between Graham and Fauntleroy in Morgan Junction next week, Tuesday-Wednesday, July 30-31. That’s part of the stretch that the Morgan Community Association had pitched for repaving with city grant money (here’s our January story). Elsewhere on California SW, recently repaved sections include: Frontenac to Myrtle last month and Dawson to Findlay in April.

good news. hopefully they can fill that huge swale/buckle right in front of the apartments and mini-mart. Maybe it’s for helping move water during storms (doubtful), but it really just feels like ground slippage. Actually, it feels like a creekbed covered over.

Graham street has multiple under ground springs, could very well be the problem.
I am gald to see new asphalt paving but have always wondered why this city doesn’t use concrete for the streets, it would last a life time rather than a few years, but then again Seattle seems to thrive on one step forward two steps back!

Drove over this on the way to CP coffee this afternoon. If the work is officially complete then repaving is an overstatement. The Fauntleroy/Graham stretch just has minimal spot repair.

    Sigh.

No, it’s next week. July 30-31 – Tuesday and Wednesday.

Hopefully they’ll put another one of those median barriers such as exists in the other three points of the intersection so folks don’t try to “cowboy” it into the left turn lane around Metro buses heading NB on California.

Just back from driving through California and Fauntleroy. Wasn’t too bad, but there is no signage indicating no turn to go northbound on California from Fauntleroy in either direction. And no left turn from California south bound to Fauntleroy east bound.

Sorry, comment time is over.
