Highway 99 traffic alert: Weekend closure north of downtown

Early reminder in case you’re getting ready for a long holiday weekend-plus: This Friday night (July 5) at 11 pm through next Monday morning (July 8) at5 am, both directions of Highway 99 will be closed between the Battery Street Tunnel and Valley Street (map), one of two big closures to facilitate work on the West Phase of the Mercer Corridor Project – specifically, demolition of the east side of the Highway 99 bridge over Mercer. If you need to get through the city, you’ll have to take I-5 – alternate routes are suggested on the project website. But if you’re on Northbound 99 and approaching the project zone, you will have to exit at Western.

This is one of the reasons why the WSB is my favorite media outlet. No other news source keeps me better informed about traffic situations that impact me.

Thanks, Hipster. We were once accused of holding readers in thrall via an “iron fist of usefulness.” We seek to live up to that 24/7/365!

I moved away…but still rely on WSB mobile nearly every day. The best!!

Haha! I love that reply :)

Hipster, you could have just said no other source keeps you better informed…. :-)

Thank you – I drive 99 everyday and there are no signs about this!

Another street closure for a tunnel Seattle voted no on along with the south lake union “commons” we rejected (If it looks like a duck & smells like a duck….).

I have lost respect for this city’s leadership. I’m talking to you Nickels, Schell, McGinn, and the whole lot of the city council. Oh yeah, and EVERYONE down at the Seattle DPD.

Has anyone investigated the (alleged) kick-backs received by these city officials? Where is Ken Schram? Jesse Jones? Can’t someone please stop this runaway train?! (Remember the monorail?)

Sorry, comment time is over.
