Friday reminder: Caspar Babypants & Hiawatha Fun Fest

Even before we get to the summer’s busiest weekend – we’re reminding you that Friday brings a hot ticket: The second West Seattle concert in a week by kids-music superstar Caspar Babypants, who drew hundreds last Saturday at West Seattle Summer Fest (WSB video here). CB’s performance kicks off this year’s Hiawatha Fun Fest, noon-3 pm tomorrow (Friday, July 19th) on the east lawn at Hiawatha Community Center/Park (Walnut Avenue side). The concert’s free; bring money for carnival games, sno-cones, and/or hot-dog lunch.

Also this weekend at Hiawatha is the dazzling & fabulously free Mediterranean Fantasy Festival on Saturday and Sunday.

Yup, got it in the calendar, and just plugged it on Facebook a little while ago … That said, never got a news release or calendar request, just kept an eye out for it. I am sure that like most events it’s an all-volunteer production but the more promotion, the better!

thanks for notice of Mediterranean Fantasy; even for those of us who try to find/see everything that’s going on, the information overload from social media and multiple news sources, way too easy to miss something good

Thanks for doing this during the day so the working parents can’t take their kids. :(

Fun Fest has been on Friday for as long as we’ve been covering it, don’t know about before that (six years). If your child is in a day-care or camp program, they may well be going – every year we see multiple groups of kids in T-shirts indicating they’re with organized programs. But I’m also sure Seattle Parks would be interested in feedback: Suggestion/complaint address, PKS_Info@seattle.gov

Great event each year. Day camps love that it’s an affordable event they can attend during the day. :)

Does anyone know if the concert is an outdoor picnic thing, like the evening concert series, or an indoor thing?

Fun Fest is all outdoors unless there’s rain. Cloudy right now but supposed to clear off.

Sorry, comment time is over.
