Followup: Skylark staffer among victims in overnight crash

4:14 PM SUNDAY: We’ve learned today that one of the two people hospitalized with major injuries from the 17th/Cambridge crash early today (here’s our previous story) is 29-year-old Logan Wicker, a staffer at Skylark CafĂ© and Club in North Delridge who was on his way home from work when his car was hit (in our photo, it’s mostly hidden by the van). Skylark is closing early tonight, 7 pm, as a result. A family friend tells us that Logan is a 2002 West Seattle High School graduate. The driver of the van that hit Logan’s car was booked into jail for investigation of DUI/vehicular assault; we haven’t been able to check on her status or record yet because the jail-register information system is currently down, but most likely, she will have a bail hearing tomorrow, so we will be following up through the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

10:52 AM MONDAY UPDATE: Checked with Harborview, where a spokesperson tells us Logan is now in serious condition, still in intensive care. We don’t know how the other victim is doing – they couldn’t check for us without a name.

1:21 PM UPDATE: Also on the subject of names, we have learned that the driver who was arrested did not have ID and wouldn’t give officers her name, so she is jailed as “Jane Doe” – which is why we haven’t been able to find out more about her yet. Police expect to be able to identify her through fingerprints.

This is horrible news. I host a show at Skylark, West Side Glory, that Logan had been working at that evening. He is a great guy – so friendly and hard-working – we all just love this guy. Warmest thoughts are being sent his way and to his family and friends.

Another drunk idiot on the road who hits and seriously injures a person just trying to get home from their job. I sm so sorry for the victim of this senseless crap. I hope the victim fully recovers, and that the idiot driving the van has a lifetime of bad juju and neck or back pain.

I was just at Skylark Saturday night for the show too, I can’t believe he got hit. Wish him a speedy recovery!

The other victim is getting better and looks like she is going to pull through!

    • WSB June 24, 2013 (11:19 am)

      Thank you, “Friend.”

Been to Skylark many times – Sad. And I echo what Rockford Columbo said – I’ve worked the A/DIS classes and alcohol/drug assessment and treatment. So sick of it. So very, very sick.

I’m friends with the female victim’s boss. He said both have multiple severe injuries. They are both going to need long, long periods of recovery. I wish them the best and I am certain our community will rally around them. A lot of love is pouring out already.

As always, thanks WSB for covering stories like this- I think it’s a vitally important service.

Is “serious” condition better? Like, has his status been upgraded?

    • WSB June 24, 2013 (5:19 pm)

Elizabeth – “Serious” is better than “critical.” Police described him as having “critical” injuries but I did not talk to the hospital yesterday so I don’t know if his condition was officially “critical” at any point – family/friends would know the best about that – but the information today comes directly from the hospital’s media-relations team.

I know that the male victims condition is critical condition- Everyone pray for this family please.

To the woman who did this- Hitting someone and fleeing the scene when there are obvious injuries is just down right wrong. I hope and pray they throw the book at you.

Praying for Logan and his friend and his sweet family. Thanks for the WSB updates!

Goes without saying, but if/when a benefit for the victims ever comes up, please advertise it well. These folks will need help.

    • WSB June 24, 2013 (7:32 pm)

We will; I said that yesterday (also in private e-mail exchange with family friend who had sent us a bit of info) and we stand at the ready to get the word out if/when needed…

  • Scarlett June 24, 2013 (7:36 pm)

Hello thank you for all your good wishes. I am Logan’s sister and his condition is still “critical”. Thank you

  • Ren June 24, 2013 (8:09 pm)

I’m so sorry to hear about this…Logan is an incredible guy. Please, those in the know, keep us updated!

  • kas June 24, 2013 (8:14 pm)

Scarlett, thank you for the update, and sorry to you and your family having to go through this horrific tragedy. This could happen to any of our brothers/husbands/sons…none are immune to the recklessness and negligence of others. Best wishes to your brother.

Scarlett, your brother Logan is one strong guy. Keep the faith. Love you all. Debbie and family. PS I remember about 8 years ago when he got this great hair cut and somebody told him he looked like George Clooney. And he did!!

  • Leslie June 25, 2013 (9:20 am)

  • Marylee June 25, 2013 (12:56 pm)

Thanks for the update Scarlett. I was also hoping that he had improved from “critical” to “serious”. We have been, and will continue, to send love, hope, thoughts, and prayers to Logan. I will continue to look for updates here on the blog, as I’m sure the rest of the WS community will as well.

My husband and I live in the neighborhood of the Skylark, and have had the pleasure of meeting Logan a couple of times, as customers of his.
I wish him, his passenger, and their families and friends good thoughts and healing thoughts as well.

  • Jared July 3, 2013 (8:22 pm)

Logan is in recovery at the Harborview ICU and is progressing. He is getting so much support from family and friends and it is amazing to see the love that surrounds him. There has been a website made for Logan with donation details and any updated benefit/fundraiser information.

Keep the boy in your thoughts. Love you Log
