9:18 PM: Another big police/fire response in progress- this time, for a “heavy rescue” call in the 3400 block of SW Roxbury.

9:24 PM: First responders report the person/s got out of the crashed vehicle without needing “heavy rescue” assistance, so it’s been scaled back. Our crew should be there shortly.

9:33 PM: A 26-year-old man rolled his car in front of the residential complex at 35th and Roxbury, and he is being taken to the hospital, according to radio communications, as a precaution, though he appears to be unhurt. Alcohol, emergency personnel report, may have been involved.

9:46 PM: Traffic effects – Roxbury is blocked between 35th and 34th. But 35th itself is not currently affected.

Drove past, camoflauge SUV flipped on roof, taking turn down Roxbury a wee bit fast maybe?

An early estimate of speed was mentioned in radio communications. Not that fast. But the investigation is early.

Speaking as if I know what’s going on…SUV’s have a higher center of gravity so can flip at lower speeds and a quick turn or a quick compensated turn.

Alcohol or drugs were 100% a factor. He crawled out of the back or side window laughing! From the looks of the vehicle, I thought he would have been dead. When I arrived, he was still smiling and laughing on the side of the street with paramedics questioning him.

I guess he was going about 80 up Roxbury, crossed-into on-coming traffic, then decided to flip the car a few times up the hill. Loud music was still blaring out of his tacky camo jeep which bore a huge “crazywhitboy.com” sticker across the back window, and a “guns-N-coffee” sticker on the side window. It’s not fair that the will only get a slap on the wrist, this could have EASILY killed someone…wow. My girlfriend was seconds ahead of this, in the same driveway in the photo, he missed her car by MOMENTS!!!! I’m biting my tongue here…

This seems to be Rollover Month.

Please do not blame this on the car. He was going extemely fast and was drunk. How many more drunk drivers are we going to let go. Where was this man before he crashed? My friend and resident of the building could have been hurt had she been 2-3- minutes later, when pulling into her garage.

bswans11-He was actually going westbound on Roxbury

  • bswans11 May 23, 2013 (9:26 am)

Wow, heading up to 35th? How the ‘ell do you roll your truck doing that? I suppose if you hit the right curb then freak out.. Ah well, glad no one got killed..

Just dumb curiosity.. wonder what the lettering on the back window of the SUV says, might be amusing. But ‘resident of Olympic Park’ is more than correct, STOP the drunk driving. Was it true that he got out of turned over vehicle and was laughing? Sad.. selfish and sad.

KD: It appears to read: PSYCHO WHITE BOY .COM

The driver hit the curb and lost control of the vehicle, then it hit the left side curb and caused the jeep to flip, he wasn’t going any faster than 40mph- that’s what they put in the police report, it was all based off of how it hit. He was basically unconscious when they got him out of the car, a group of passer by-ers helped break the back windows to get him out. When he came back around, I wouldn’t say he was laughing at all- he was more so upset, and he was also very belligerent towards everyone around.

Friend: Your account somewhat contradicts what other eyewitnesses reported at the scene. I spoke with two women who were in a car at the light facing westbound. The driver of that car told me that she saw (in her rearview) the driver of the SUV come racing up behind her on Roxbury and she braced for impact. At the last second she said he veered into the eastbound lane of traffic, went up on the curb striking a sign and rolled it. She also said that the driver immediately climbed out of the car himself after the crash and seemed completely unharmed. She told me he was laughing and joking and when his grandfather arrived moments later he was hugging him and generally horsing around.

‘cj’. are you serious?? Then he should change his dumb a__ sticker and not actually try to live up to it. That child needs a realignment on being a good citizen, having a driving license, etc. I’m so sorry for what the terror for a few seconds that woman at the light had to go through. At least she did not end up taking the brunt of his actions. Stop DUI’s people!

  • Treymon May 24, 2013 (6:38 pm)

If an alcohol detection device was required on every car in the state,…. that would drastically cut down on drunk driving. European Volvo’s have an alcohol detector in their steering wheels,… but then the penalties for DUI in some countries is death! I guess that makes it more cost effective. Lowering the BAC to .05 won’t change “judgement” after you’ve had a few alcoholic drinks.

Sorry, comment time is over.
