No, no, no to a dedicated bike lane on any revised or rebuilt versionof Delridge Way. The Neighborhood Greenway on 26th is already being implemented and costing a bunch of money and we don't need to encourage biking on arterials like Delridge Way. Bikes and four wheeled vehicles together on arterials are not a good mix. Period.
-
I hope no one is going to be carrying water for Nucor for some new dedicated onramp to the Bridge for their trucks/private business. Enough already with the sucking-up.

SDOT "Dong said they went out and surveyed one day (between 7 am and 7 pm, NOT at night) and only about 20 percent of the spaces were being used"

It goes with the flow the way this city, SDOT,WSDOT,SPD take there data to fit their agenda. How stupid is that statement. Thats like saying the West Seattle bridge has no traffic issues, our survey 10pm to 4am proves it. SDOT director Hahn at the Southwest District Council meeting last week said he could come out and walk the area and see the traffic issues in west seattle and junction area ? this is the guy incharge of SDOT, you would think these people should know what is going on before and not after their bad decisions and planning. The city and SPD has blown 5mil dollar grant from Homeland Security on the camera project and are now trying to cover and justify their very bad spending habits. We seem to have a common problem with people running this city. How about are transfer station, 520 pontoons ? Expect more taxes and tolls to cover these people doing a poor job.

They need to do a parking survey in the evening. Since removing parking on Delridge, it is now much more difficult to park in the area.

Carol,
.
I'm happy to disagree with you. I also wholeheartedly support all of your efforts to create an economic boom and crime crack down.

McBride research the Broken Window Theory yourself which has more critics then supporters and is considered bias. Think of New York city the reduction in serious crimes, litter, and grafitti was the result of an economic boom and a crack down on crime not beautification.

Sam,
.
I think you misunderstand. Neither the neighborhood or district council is voting for this. There's nothing to vote On. Some of us have been pursuing the city for quite a long time for this particular infrastructure improvement, specifically because there Isn't any money for it.
.
Recently, we held a meeting with DPD, OED, SDOT, and the Mayor's office. The purpose was to establish that this project concerned traffic, business development, transit, and yes, beautification. And if you feel that beautification isn't a worthy goal for this community, I encourage you to research Broken Window Theory and get back to me.
.
There are, have been, and continue to be sidewalk installation projects throughout North Delridge. I have helped pass three of them. I support them. This is an Entirely different project. I'd ask that you not let your dissatisfaction with the pace of infrastructure improvement on your block help derail a very important project for several communities.
.
Thanks.
