I’ll be down at the south end of Lincoln Park beach looking for the comet every night that it is clear in the West and I can get there in time for sunset.

Greg–I just looked up Kohoutek–beautiful! The first one I really saw was Huyakutake: huge! But my parents took my brother and me out to see Halley. The photons hit my eye, but I now know that what I thought was the comet at the time was actually a bright star wobbling around in the binocs that I couldn’t hold steady.

What a great article. Very informative. I still remember going up to Hamilton View Point with my parents to watch my first comet – Kohoutek.

I like the possibility of C/2013 A1 crashing into Mars. I’d like to see it first, however.
Thanks for the update…I’ll be on lookout starting about March 7 at dusk; sure hope we have a clear western horizon.
