I completely agree that traffic should avoid the side roads with no sidewalks. SDOT is aware that this is a potential problem from thier community meetings and should be alerted that it is happening. Please call the hotline and email the community liason folks to 'alert' them to the issue. The can post signs on the side road for local traffic only.
-
Side note: I was a good neighor and went all the way up to 35th this weekend. Cheers to me!

I completely understand. Unless one lives on a street without sidewalks, like yours and mine, they will never get it. Hang in there, I feel for yah.

M and all
Thank you so much for your comments. I am very happy to provide another perspective in our neighborhood. I am normally flying fixed wings aircraft. Cessna 182.
Cheers,
Long

No one is trying to stop people from driving on public roads. The point is 24th is not the detour route, MAP POSTED, and if they had put up the proper signage in the first place maybe there wouldnt be so much confusion about where to go. 24th is not equiped for the amount of delridge traffic speeding down here. There are NO SIDEWALKS for people to get out of the way. This is a direct route for kids from the high school walking to and from school. . PLUS when poeple get up to the end of the frikn block they cant get out. SO FOLLOW THE POSTED DETOUR route.l AAANNND its NOT just for a couple of days This has been for a couple of months. Don't just pick and choose the parts of the story you feel like paying attention to. Its important to get ALL the information. I'm not " complaining" for the hell of it or to just be bitchy. Its for a good reason!

You can't stop people from driving on public roads (to the one complaining about traffic on 24th.) I live right on the detour route and close enough to 24th that we get it from there also. It's only for a few days.

Going all the way to 35th makes no sense except maybe for the buses, I am surprised they don't route people up to 16th and then down to Barton.

I do predict some smart roofing contractor is going to be hitting the streets though. Some of those roofs look dreadful.

I'm happy that they are doing it. As far as road construction goes, it seems to be moving fast and on time so that's good. Can't have construction without noise and detours.
