As the postseason play continues for West Seattle High School‘s girls-varsity basketball team, they lost to Mercer Island HS this afternoon in Metro League play at Chief Sealth IHS‘s gym, 38-32.

As we tweeted live during the game at @wsblive, the Wildcats were ahead at halftime, but fell behind in the third quarter. They have at least one more game – Friday in Bellevue (details TBA).

West Seattle pretty much kept Mercer Island from getting anywhere near the basket in the first half, but they had trouble in the second half shooting the ball, which led Mercer Island to a 38-32 win.

West Seattle’s leading scorer was once again Lexi Iaone (above), who put up 13 points. She led both teams in scoring, while handling most of the heavy lifting for the Wildcats. While no one on Mercer Island’s team came close to her totals, they did have seven players who added to their
final total. For WSHS, Gabby Sarver was second-highest scorer with 6 points:

Then it was Annalisa Ursino, with 5:

West Seattle plays again on Friday at Bellevue Community College, 8:15 pm – we’re waiting to hear who their opponent will be.
