I have learned that if you need to do any kind of community organizing, Facebook is not something you can ignore. True, it doesn't replace a dedicated site. On the other hand, FB takes about 90 seconds to get a page up, running, and connected to, well, everyone (mostly). You might want to try creating a fictional entity (you can be anything, a park, for example) to gain access to the FB utilities. Might be worth your time. . Given what this council has accomplished in 2 weeks (Two! Weeks!), I'm astounded. It's incredible. I'm sure there's a website coming, and if this is your neighborhood, I think you have some pretty amazing neighbors. Lucky you. Anon,

That is some diligent work! It was also nice to see such a large turnout. Hopefully this will continue. I'm thinking to make and pass out flyers in my neighborhood to encourage others to attend the next meeting. A group of people came together in a house back in 2004/5 with concerns, mostly crime, and listened to each other and the SPD Community Police Team Officer. The Department Of Neighborhoods representative at the time was Ron Angeles and he was all about supporting the formation of a Neighborhood Council for the North Delridge area. A dedicated group of neighborhood people stuck together and with the help of Ron at DON formed the North Delridge Neighborhood Council which over the years has helped further the quality of life in North Delridge. -Keep up the head of steam Roxhillers, Westwood Villagers and Arbor Heights’ers!
