My 1998 Toyota 4Runner was also hit the same night/morning! Parked it right in front of the house on 32nd ave SW..Noticed it Saturday before noon on Dec 29th.Took it to Midas and looks like the thieves they used a pipe cutter to get it. They also got my oxygen sensor. I did a online police report. Hope these guys get what’s coming to them! very costly repair

You can buy a new caddiladic convertor from autozone with a oxogen sensor attached for 200 and get it weldded on for 100 hope that helps

I think there was/is an active converter thief in that area. I recall him being busted several times before. He might be out again. Search the WSB for “converter thief”.

I think most people would pay more taxes for bigger jails to keep in thieves.

We had the same issue here on SW 39th and Hinds.
Over night thieves cut the catalytic converter
of my 92 Toyota 4runner.
Hope our Police force is aware.

Also Toyotas are more likely to be hit by catalytic converter thieves because the converters are more readily accessible than other makes of vehicles.

Barton – they’ll take the catalytic converters off of anything. 4 runners, trucks, small cars even, but the cars are harder to get to so trucks are more at risk.

Good question Caprial. There are movement sensors and noise sensors. So, alarms for opened doors/banged into car bodies. And there are alarms for breaking glass. Maybe someone who is up to speed on alarm technology could chime in on what kinds of alarms are out there today? Thanks.
