Regarding heat issues, the older buses have 3 settings - high, low and off. Sometimes the low setting feels too warm, but the only alternative is to turn it off entirely. Newest buses (the low floor hybrids) have climate controls that allow adjustment to a specific temperature.

Sue, this issue with the heat must be specific to the new buses? I remember this issue only sporadically when it was the 55/54. A few weeks back someone even fainted because it was sooo hot! Not good. I've written a message outlining the issue to metro, but if others also wrote in it may carry more weight. Seems like every day I am shouting "could you turn down the heat" to the driver! )-:

Jenava, I've had the opposite problem with bus heat - the 116/118/119 seem to have had NO heat the last week or two. I shouldn't be able to see my breath on the bus. :)

Returning from sunny SoCal, time to put my game face on to brave traffic and the weather. I guess rain is better than dirty fog.

King County Metro seems to consider reports of crowding as a success. While it would be disheartening to have these complaints fall on deaf ears, it might be worse that KC Metro tells us, "well, yeah, it's because it's so popular .. and that's how it is in other cities anyway". Not buying it.

Jenava- that's one of my biggest complaints about riding the bus. All of us passengers are dressed to stand outside for who knows how long, we don't need the heat blasting once we get on the bus!

The dangerous over crowding of the Rapid Ride bus this mornning took a new low. Not enough seating for the elderly and/or disabled to even have a seat this morning.

Anyone else sick of the overheating on the bus? Got on this morning at 9:15, heat blasting and passengers had opened a window. Seems silly that we are opening windows on the bus in January! But no one seems to know how to get the heat shut off. (hint: ask the driver to turn it down if you can yell loud enough for them to hear you).

The slightly un-normal: Standing room only on the 21E going downtown at 35th and Morgan at 7:38am. Usually, most of the seats are filled, but never standing room only.

Slightly off topic, but what's up with the City Light sign? The only time it's ever on is the middle of the night! I love looking at that sign on my way home, but I haven't seen it on in a while. Is there anyone to call?
