High-school basketball roundup: WSHS at home, Sealth on the road

The West Seattle High School cheer squad and their young protégés had a lot to cheer for last night, as both WSHS varsity teams won their home games against Ingraham.

It was a runaway win for the girls – West Seattle 61, Ingraham 26, game stats here, with four Wildcats in double-digit scoring – Lydia Giomi had 16 points, and 11 each are on the books for Charli Elliott, Lexi Ioane, and Gabby Sarver.

As for the boys, theirs was also a decisive win:

Final score was West Seattle 60, Ingraham 46, game stats hereLaTrey Newsome led the scoring with 22 points.

Chief Sealth International High School played its games on the road. The girls-varsity team came away with a win – Chief Sealth 57, Rainier Beach 40, game stats here. Sidney Proctor led Seahawks scoring with 13, followed by O’Shae Walker with 12 and Zoe Haywood with 10.
But the boys fell to Rainier Beach, 84-42, game stats here; Trey Brown and Aaron Knox had a dozen points each for the Seahawks.

Next up – the cross-town counterparts face each other, with WSHS visiting Sealth for the boys-varsity game at 7:30 pm Tuesday, the girls-varsity game at 7:30 pm Wednesday.

    The Sealth hoops score only adds up to 39 because the game’s most fabulous three pointer needs to be attributed to #33 Trevor Reed.
