Just went through and had to explain to some people holding up traffic to treat it as a 4 way stop. Who do we need to call when this happens so someone will come direct traffic?
Comment by Lori — 5:22 pm December 27, 2012 #
I’m not sure if 684-ROAD is answered till 5 or 6. I would suggest 911.
Comment by WSB — 5:27 pm December 27, 2012 #
SDOT traffic signal engineers are being contacted and sent to the site to work on the signal.

Thanks!

Wonder why this is an ongoing issue…………………
Comment by West Seattle Hipster — 5:40 pm December 27, 2012 #
The repeated problems at Avalon/35th were blamed on transit-signal priority – which was subsequently disabled TFN until it could be worked out.

We will check back with SDOT (likely not before tomorrow unless they have an update later tonight) regarding what they’ve found on this one as well as 42nd/Alaska, which malfunctioned recently too – all three intersections are on the RapidRide line, of note re: transit-signal priority…

Treating it as a fourway stop would be easier if northbound California wasn’t stuck on green. Those drivers have to realize there is a problem before you can negotiate the intersection, from their perspective it looks good to go. scary

Stop and park, and come into the Feedback Lounge!!! Great drinks and food, and now car watching!
Comment by dl — 6:08 pm December 27, 2012 #
Yea we went though there about an hour ago, saw a cop show up and mess with the signal controls, that’s when the north bound signal got stuck on green and everyone else was red. Pretty scary getting though there hoping some hot shot headed north was looking before blazing though. Maybe put somebody on traffic directing before adjusting the signal box next time.

What the ?&$@*#%….we can put men on the moon but a dependable, functioning traffic light is beyond our capabilities???
Comment by anti-obstruction — 6:53 pm December 27, 2012 #
@anti… whens the last time the usa went to the moon? 35 years ago?
Comment by steve — 7:00 pm December 27, 2012 #
Did anything positive come from the implementation of “Rapid Ride”?
Comment by West Seattle Hipster — 7:46 pm December 27, 2012 #
I’m on a Rapid Ride now, WSH. From ballard to wseattle once a week. Guaranteed to take a very not rapid 55 minutes every time. On weekends and rush hour, even longer.
Comment by Chris W — 8:21 pm December 27, 2012 #
Agree with West Seattle hip… It has been going on at different locations…. Is the technology world going to end??
Comment by samson — 9:44 pm December 27, 2012 #
I guess I thought the intellectual fallout from that noble and successful endeavor would pay dividends in the future.

Wow! That signal has more issues than a magazine rack!
