Update: Fire call on Alki = cooking problem

December 16, 2012 at 9:46 pm | In West Seattle fires, West Seattle news | 3 Comments

Fire units are at a building in the 2700 block of Alki SW (map), after a report of smoke. Per the scanner, a resident is telling them it was a problem with cooking – no actual fire spotted so far. And firefighters have just confirmed “food on the stove” – smoke, but no fire. They will be ventilating the building’s fourth floor.

  1. Heard all the sirens and when I looked at the 911 log it said 4Red – 2+1+1. Interesting. I have never noticed that before. Looks like a few things happening in our hood tonight.

  2. All hands were on deck with SFD when they arrived as is with any call of a structure fire. Over hearing the firefighters say they needed to get hoses going I decided to block west bound traffic on Alki ave to give the firefighters the most room to work with. I knew it must not have been very serious because no officers from SPD showed up to do traffic control and fire trucks left so I did the same. Glad no one is hurt.

  3. Thanks, Ryan. It wasn’t a structure fire call, though – it was a bit down from that, a 4RED + 2 + 1 + 1 (as you’ll see on the online log) http://www2.cityofseattle.net/fire/realTime911/getRecsForDatePub.asp?action=Today&incDate=&rad1=des
    .
    glad all are ok.
