Forgot to mention in those tweets that I was on the 10 AM sailing to Bremerton at the time of the sighting.

The ferry had started to slow just after crossing the shipping lanes, which was a little odd. And when a crew member got on the ship's speaker system, it was not to tell the owners of the silver BMW to please turn off their car alarm a third time, but to tell passengers to head to the starboard side of the vessel for ORCAS.

My first instinct was to tell the WSB. But my second was to call the Orca Network. :)

I headed for the 12:20 p.m. Fauntleroy ferry, made it aboard, but should have gone to Lincoln Park. I took a couple of 300mm snaps from the ferry back towards Lincoln Park, but now I can’t get those into my laptop. How I love technical glitches. Well, at least I got to see them. If I can surmount my technical difficulties, I’ll forward my pics when the pod was near the Lincoln Park pool. I think that had to be my ferry in Trileigh’s photo.

Keep on the lookout.
They may come back the same route tomorrow. They have to come north somewhere.

A - the Arroyos are the waterfront neighborhood down below Marine View Drive - there's a little bit of public property at one end or the other. If you're able to drive down toward Burien you might catch them or maybe try Seola Beach Drive, which is a southbound turn off SW 106th (I think) when you take that street eastbound toward Shorewood ... whale-chasing is tough.

Orcas have now disappeared into the sun to the south, leaving LOTS of very, very happy people on shore! WSB should be seeing lots of orca photos soon...

If you are trying to figure out where to aim the binoculars, look for the little research boat with 3 or so guys standing up. Now it's east of Vashon Island.
