High-school football: West Seattle, Chief Sealth, Seattle Lutheran

All three of our area’s high-school-football varsity teams played tonight. West Seattle High School had the lone win, visiting Ingraham in North Seattle and defeating the Rams 44-13, per our partners at The Seattle Times; it was homecoming night for Chief Sealth International High School, which had a big 4th-quarter comeback but not enough to avoid losing to visiting Nathan Hale, 43-23 (full report with photos coming up later); and on the road, Seattle Lutheran High School was blanked by La Conner, 45-0 (thanks to David DeSiga for the updates).

Someone please turn the lights off!!! I feel like my building is enduring some sort of hostage situation with the stadium lights blazing into our windows all night.

Whoever played at West Seattle stadium left the lights on. An awful lot of electricity going to waste. I’ve left a message with the Parks Dept., but no telling how long before somebody picks it up.If anyone knows a better number, please call.

(edited) At West Seattle Stadium last night it was Bainbridge vs. Seattle Prep – Seattle Lutheran plays some afternoon games but was on the road in La Conner last night. The stadium is usually used by non-WS teams on Friday nights; this year WSHS and CSIHS have split SWAC (by Sealth) as a home field. If the lights are still on, honestly, someone might consider asking if SPD can contact Seattle Parks – I don’t know an afterhours number for Parks. – TR

And if anybody sees this and can tell us if the lights are STILL on – we can’t get over to check for another 20-30 minutes or so. If they are I’ll be happy to write a separate story (as suggested by one person who e-mailed us a couple hours ago) in hopes it might be seen by someone who can fix it.

Sorry, comment time is over.
