West Seattle wildlife: Lincoln Park’s eagle family

Noting Seattle Times (WSB partner) coverage of an eagle family elsewhere in the city, West Seattle photographer Gary Jones checked in on Lincoln Park’s own bald-eagle family this week – that’s Mom and Dad “making a bunch of noise in a tree not far from the nest,” he notes, while back in the nest …

No official count, but eagles certainly seem more numerous in our area this year – at least we’ve seen them a lot more often than years past!

Great shots! Saw my first bunny at Westcrest Park this morning, too. Spring and all the new animals popping up here and there.

Thanks for the shots. I’ve spent a lot of time staring at that tree trying to get a glimpse (from really far away).

The population of Bald Eagles has indeed skyrocketed. The most recent count of their nests in this state grew from 105 in 1980 to 845 in 2005, the last year a count was taken, according to WA Dept. of Fish and Wildlife.

    Cool! Thx.

JoAnne; right; don’t think Papa and Mama would be too happy about anyone getting close to that tree! Probably why they were making all that noise when the photog snapped the “baby” — who’s already got a wicked beak.

Looks like Mr. Eagle is catching heck from Mrs. Eagle. Again

Sorry, comment time is over.
