West Seattle traffic alert: 1-car crash in Highland Park

2:45 PM, FIRST REPORT: We’re en route to a crash scene in Highland Park – a vehicle rollover reported at 15th/Holden, just east of the central HP commercial zone at 16th/Holden. No injuries reported so far. More to come.

2:56 PM UPDATE: As you can see from the photo we added, it’s actually on its side, on the sidewalk, along the eastbound side of SW Holden, closer to 14th SW. The driver was not seriously hurt, we are told. It’s a bit of a traffic distraction, eastbound, but a tow truck should be there soon.

    Hope everyone is ok.

I’ve noticed a disturbing trend towards distracted and irresponsibility driving in Seattle, from driving too fast on residential streets, cavalierly blowing through school crossings, driving w/o lights on, to just plain “lost in their thoughts” driving.

And no these aren’t all young kids in souped up cars, these are supposed intelligent, responsible adults who are always proclaiming they live in such a progressive city.

    What gives?

Please note, we don’t know ANYTHING about the circumstances here – whether the road was slick, the driver was ill, the brakes failed, had to swerve to avoid somebody else, NO idea – it’s usually all but impossible to get that kind of information, so our reports focus on traffic effects/injuries/property damage. – TR

That’s not far from another recent accident on that stretch of road. It’s a tricky area; the road curves and there are a lot of blind spots, plus when cars are parked particularly on the north side of the street, the travel lane is very narrow.

On the upside, there IS a fire station right there…

The road looks wet, so I bet it was a bit slick…imagine that, in the Seattle area, of all places…

I often cross that street with my dog, and cars drive too fast. I wish there were a warning light, or a crosswalk, to encourage cars to slow down. It is pretty treacherous!

‘Twas not until I moved to Seattle that I started seeing these regular reports of serious crashes on residential streets. There must be something in the water…

I hope the GhostBusters are OK!
