West Seattle Crime Watch: Pellet-gun shooting reported

Heard this on the scanner and then received a note from a victim – someone driving along 59th SW in Alki fired what’s believed to be a pellet gun at homes/cars. The note we received wanted to give a heads-up to others, and says: “I was just sitting in my living room and a bullet came through my living room window. I went outside and my neighbor’s car window was smashed out or shot out; my wife saw a orange-ish 4-door car drive away.” Haven’t heard any word of arrests or stops so far but we’ll be following up.

10:29 PM UPDATE: Added a photo of the living-room window, taken by the victim, who says the hole seemed too big for a “pellet.”

I’m on 59th & had my mother in law’s car window shot out last night. I’m so glad this blog exists because now I am pretty sure the window was caused by this person.

My friend and her husband are the second floor of one of the apt complexes on 59th, they got a shot through their window as well. :/ shame.

Might be a .22 air or CO2 rifle. Most folks are used to the rather tiny .177 pellets but there are .22 and even some .25 pellet sizes in use.

You can hunt very small game with a .22 pellet rifle at reasonable distances.

A pellet and a bullet look very distinct once you see them. A .22 bullet likely would have gone on through at least one wall inside the home.

I do hope they can catch whoever did this as it is way past anything that could be considered a prank.

Sorry, comment time is over.
