West Seattle schools: ‘Seussical The Musical’ at Alki Elementary

(Nikolai Siguenza as the Cat in the Hat, Ian Gesellchen as Horton, Jovanna Barron as Sour Kangaroo)
Thanks to Alki Elementary parents for sharing dress-rehearsal photos (both taken by John Hinkey) from the big show that students are about to present: “Seussical The Musical!” 7 pm tomorrow and 2 pm Saturday, at the West Seattle High School Theater – and we’re told there aren’t too many tickets left!

So if you want to cheer on all those local kids who’ve worked hard to put on a show (not to mention parents/volunteers/staff), find your ticket info on the official poster/flyer.

P.S. We know it’s play/musical season for many schools, so if yours isn’t on our Events calendar yet, please send the info! Thanks!

FRIDAY MORNING UPDATE: As noted in comments, both “Seussical” shows are now sold out.

Why oh why must the toddler be sick this week? I am a Seuss lover and wish we could be there.

Ack! I’m told it’s sold out. Anyone have 2 or 3 extras for Friday night? My 4 year old was very excited to go to this.

3 sets of grandparents coming from Eastern Washington to see the show and especially one of the birdies at Saturday’s performance. In last year’s show “Willy Wonka”, the kids were AWESOME! Can’t wait!

Jim M–We will be talking to the parents about the video and photos after the production. Mr. Hinkey has taken some great photos! Keep checking your email. Info will come out soon!

Are there absolutly no tickets available? Even standing room only? I wanted to take my 3 kids today and I was told that sometimes you can get in even when its sold out.

Joe – I can’t speak definitively for the folks putting on the production but if you haven’t been to the WSHS Theater … I don’t believe there is anywhere to stand. We once had to cover something on a drop-in basis and I remember standing alongside the theater entry poking our camera around the corner to see the stage, but that would be no place from which to watch. The seats otherwise go all the way up to the top so there’s no place in back, either – TR

I took photos during the dress rehearsals, last nights performance, and I will this afternoon. We’re working with the PTA to figure out how to make the photos (and video) available to the parents. It will take a bit of time to sort and edit all the photos and I think the video will need editing too.

We’ll get them out to you!

Last night’s performance was really excellent.

And no, there’s no standing room – it’s pretty packed with just the seats.

Ok, thank you. I am going to sw3ing by to see if there is anything available around 2pm anyways. My daughter goes to Alki and wants to try and see the play.

they should have an encore performance next weekend! we saw the flyer at the dry cleaner, but due to an un-planned trip out of town, we never got any tickets. looks like a great and fun show!
