West Seattle restaurants: Sign’s up for Fiddlehead Fine Foods
February 25, 2012 at 9:40 pm | In West Seattle news, West Seattle restaurants | 21 Comments
Thanks to BJ, proprietor of Brunette Mix (WSB sponsor) in The Junction, for sharing the photo of her new neighbors from Fiddlehead Fine Foods and Café, putting up their sign today. We had noticed just yesterday that one of their doors was topped with a rendering of their namesake fern:

Fiddlehead is the coming-soon breakfast/lunch café that’s taken over the former Blue Willow Catering/Luncheonette spot at 4310 SW Oregon, just steps west of California SW. We’re still working to get key Fiddlehead details such as target opening date, and we’ll report ‘em when we get ‘em. Blue Willow, you might recall, moved out four months ago, saying it would continue its catering operations from a commercial kitchen elsewhere.

I saw the door yesterday and wondered if it was going to be called Fiddlehead now. So exciting to see something coming back to that spot.

Speaking of restaurants, what’s the status of the Fleur de Lys and West City Sardine Kitchen, two restaurant new additions I’m also looking forward to.

Can’t wait to try it. I hope it is nothing like the Charleston!

rw, according to Fleur de Lys’ Facebook they aren’t going to be opening up as a regular service restaurant after all, sounds like they are going towards catering.

I guess it’s only true if Jan cuts and pastes a link. Sorry I didn’t follow protocol.
Comment by bg — 12:45 pm February 26, 2012 #
Ummmm….bg, Jan was trying to be helpful, just as you were.
.
Also, considering the fact that Jan’s posting is only 17 minutes after your posting, it’s possible she hadn’t even seen yours, and that being their FB page was also her source, was coincidental…

I agree, we need a good/affordable breakfast place in West Seattle since Charlestown Cafe closed..best pancakes and omelettes, great friendly staff–we miss it very much and hope for someting comparable soon.

Used to be a Fiddlehead restaurant in Juneau. Great place, yet I heard it closed several years back. Surely not related to this WS version. Hoping the best for this Fiddlehead.

Charlestown, Charlestown, Charlestown. Loved it! Don’t be it, study it.

Charlestown? Really? It might have been good a looong time ago, but it was awful the last few years that they were open. Retirement home food is what it always reminded me of, but that is just my opinion. I hope this new place is a success!

can’t wait ! should be an awesome place, i hear the peeps that are opening are both accomplished chefs, so the food should be yummy. not pricey either, that’s not their style. and they are not affiliated with fleur de lys.

If you know them, please ask them if they’ll PLEASE answer my notes … We also have driven by about 10 times since BJ sent the photo and haven’t spotted door open, people outside, anything else. Would just like to share a few details with the folks. – TR
