West Seattle outages: Beach Drive power, Fauntleroy Comcast

11:45 AM: Couple of outages at the moment, just in case you’re affected and wondering if you’re alone … Seattle City Light has 22 homes without power along Beach Drive, in the Weather Watch Park vicinity (see the map); the cause is listed as “unknown,” though Melissa tells us via Twitter that it “sounded like a transformer blew.” Meantime, here in Upper Fauntleroy, our Comcast Internet service is out, and the utility tells us we’re not alone – they’re attributing it to storm-related damage.

2:59 PM UPDATE: The City Light map shows the Beach Drive outage is over.

Hi there. We heard the blowout. We live on Beach Drive and have lost power. We went to check it out with the neighbors and found that a young seagull caused the transformer to blow. Dead bird. Hopefully we get power soon.

I must say this again. We have had Centurylink(Qwest) for years and have never had a problem. Knock on wood. The new Comcast commercials knocking Centurylink make me mad because they are just not true as far as it goes at our house. The speed has been good and no outages really makes a difference. Thumbs way up for Centurylink if you are tired of outages.

We have both CL and CC since we can’t afford to be totally out. Was happy to be able to use the former while the latter was out.

Comcast Internet goes down here on Beach Drive for some period of time every day, it seems. Usually it means I need to take a break from working and get coffee or lunch. Their outage likely has nothing to do with the power outage.

Sorry, comment time is over.
