West Seattle schools: Roxhill Elementary’s ‘Family Fitness Night’

Just hours after school let out for the day at Roxhill Elementary … the campus was jumping again tonight, from PE specialist Chellie LaFayette and principal Carmela Dellino, to hundreds of students and their families:

The occasion: Family Fitness Night, with free dinner courtesy of Subway, lots of get-up-and-move activities, plus the chance to meet a Seahawks player – 26-year-old cornerback Kennard Cox:

Yes, he was mobbed, but he got a chance to talk with some of the kids one-on-one, too:

Afterward, he tweeted, “I had a blast!” Family Fitness Nights are co-sponsored by Communities in Schools of Seattle.

Kennard Cox’s favorite children’s book is “Curious George”. Thought you all should know. Mr. Cox was a great pick for our elementary school. He played with the kids in the circuit at the gym. Thank you Seahawks and Subway for giving back and supporting our community.

Roxhill Elementary is such a beautiful school of colors! It’s diversed population brings so much joy to learning. Principle Carmela Dellino, is an outstanding, caring, and devoted person to Roxhill and the community. I am glad that my kids attend Roxhill Elementary, I wouldn’t have it any other way!

We are ever so proud of Carmela. She is our eldest daughter, one of eight children. She has two older brothers and three younger ones. She has always loved to teach; coaching girls sports when she was an eighth grader herself.

She loves the children at Roxhill Elementary.
