West Seattle Chamber CEO Patti Mullen leaving for new job

Just announced by West Seattle Chamber of Commerce board chair Dave Montoure – the Chamber’s president/CEO Patti Mullen is leaving. From his e-mail announcement:

Over the last eight years, our Chamber has grown in membership, quality of programming, community partnership and advocacy, networking and learning opportunities. In addition, the Chamber has gained recognition throughout the Greater Seattle area as a strong leader for business on the Westside. So it is with mixed emotions that I share the news that Patti Mullen has accepted the position of President/CEO of the Federal Way Chamber of Commerce. She will begin her new post in January, 2012.

The Chamber’s December 1st holiday party at Feedback Lounge (WSB sponsor) will now also become a farewell party for Mullen. Some of the most recent initiatives she’s been working on have included promoting West Seattle as a destination for “sustainable tourism.” (WSB photo from June 2011)

Congrats, Patti. I can’t imagine what they are going to do without you. West Seattle’s loss is Federal Way’s gain. I’m putting the party on my calendar.

Patti Mullen has done amazing things for the West Seattle Chamber. Among other things, she took the Chamber to a higher level of professionalism and broadened the Chamber’s community involvement; she increased membership, she made the Chamber more financially solvent and stable, she initiated more programs and partnerships with other organizations, actually her achievements are way too numerous to mention here. Federal Way is very fortunate to get Patti and West Seattle will definitely miss her. I sure hope there is another “Patti” out there to hire! I am grateful for having worked with Patti over the years and I wish her every success in her new position.

Sadly, business expansion and economic development is probably an easier sell in Federal Way than in West Seattle.

Patti has been such a strong supporter of West Seattle! Not only in her official job, but also as a resident and community member. Her shoes will be very hard to fill, but I wish her success in her new position.
