West Seattle Crime Watch: Westwood Village business break-in

Giannoni’s Pizzeria on the south side of Westwood Village WILL be open on time at 11 this morning, owner Donna says – but that’s after some cleanup work they would rather have not had to do. What you’re looking at in our photo is a hole in the wall at Giannoni’s, cut by burglars who broke in and then went through the wall to get into Taco Del Mar next door. Donna tells us the burglars made off with quarters from the pizzeria’s Pac-Man video-game machine, among other things, so they’ve alerted the nearby QFC in case anyone turns up at Coinstar with an unusual amount of quarters. We’re checking with police for more details on the break-in, but in the meantime, Donna says the burglar(s) were apparently scared off while inside TDM, and it’s believed to have happened around 2:30 am, so please contact SPD if you were in the area and saw anything suspicious.

Dang Donna. Sorry this happened to you guys.

What a bunch of douche bags…all that for quarters?

Wondering if they are practicing for something bigger?

Thanks, West Seattle, for the support and kind words on this crummy day. We had record breaking sales today and I know that many of you came with the specific intention of showing support (Thanks Sue, Phil, Holly, John, Sara, Joe, and many, many others!) and it means so much to us all at Giannoni’s. The structural damage, vandalism and petty cash theft is nothing compared to the feeling of violation, but having such a great community kept us lifted throughout the day. And a huge thank you to WSB for always being here to share the news, good and bad, to keep us all connected. It really means a lot. Thanks.

Glad to hear folks stopped by, will try to come by this weekend ourselves. Yours is definitely pizza that pleases this hard-to-please ex-New Yorker; hope they find the jerks.

    Westwood Village Security was where?

Well SPD does visit Westwood, However it mostly involves sitting at B&N’s Starbucks drinking coffee, there must of been about 5 of them in there last night.

I am sorry to hear this! It’s too bad this happened to your place and TDM next door. Both owners are great people; they must have been young, petty thieves. I’m glad that no real damage was done. They got what they deserved – nothing!

I work in Westwood villiage and are one of the last stores to close, the SPD patrols though our parking lot at night . Sorry to hear about the break in am happy they didn’t do to much damage. I’m sure they knew were Security was when they broke in.

Sorry, comment time is over.
