West Seattle Crime Watch: Police searching for burglary suspects

(Photo added 3:37 pm – police off SW Alaska, block west of Delridge)
1:55 PM: Police are still in North Delridge searching for two burglary suspects – and have arrested two others. Part of the search has involved the West Seattle Golf Course. Here’s what Seattle Police Officer Renée Witt says happened: They got a call around quarter till 1 about a burglary in the 5400 block of 30th SW. Someone saw suspects described as three black males and one heavyset black female, all in their 20s, one male with gray sweatshirt and black pants. First the person who called police was out looking for them; then police arrived, saw two suspects, saw two more run onto the Golf Course from SW Brandon. Two arrests were made, but an extensive search continues for the other two. We’re awaiting more information from police to see if they have any additional descriptive information about the two they’re still seeking.

2:14 PM UPDATE: Officer Witt just shared updated information – ONE suspect in custody, two others still being sought, and there’s still an “active track inside the golf course.”

3:37 PM UPDATE: That hasn’t stopped the golfing, in case you wondered – at least not along the north side of the course (SW Genesee) when we drove by a little while ago. Meantime, police were still combing the neighborhood as of our check (photo added above). If no formal updates come within the next few hours, we’ll check at tonight’s West Seattle Crime Prevention Council meeting, 7 pm at the precinct (Delridge/Webster), all welcome to hear about crime trends and discuss neighborhood crime concerns.

Here’s hoping you catch these low life’s.

While they’re there can they look for my two Pro V1s I lost in the woods left of the 8th tee.

I live next to the house that was robbed, and was home all day. I can’t believe I didnt hear or see anything. My house was robbed last week, probably by the same people. An officer sitting a few blocks down Brandon said a K-9 unit was tracking two suspects north of Brandon, heading back South. I really hope they get these losers.

Maybe the course coyotes will get them! If not that, then hopefully a few blackberries will rough ’em up.

Maybe the coyotes will track them down first & then munch on them!

I hope they check Camp Long too. There are a lot of little trails that people made from the golf course. I imagine it would be a good place to hide.

I heard from police around 2 that they caught two, and one was still loose and being tracked near the skate park and behind houses by golf course by a canine unit and many police officers. Also, one officer said it was a house on 25th and Brandon that was robbed, which is different from blog info? Another officer described the suspect as a light hispanic male that was bloody from blackberry bushes. Everything seems a lot quieter now on 26th, cop cars have left.

Denise, my info is directly from the SPD Media Unit downtown, which has access to what police are reporting back in from the scene, so I have no explanation for a discrepancy but will ask them about that when I check back. Re: the skatepark, I drove by there around 2:45 and there was no police presence in the park area but (see the photo I added) there were several cars just south, in the 25th/Alaska area. – TR

I can see it now….K-Coyote units and lashings with blackberry-bush branches for punishment :).

So glad they caught one of these dirt bags. Let’s hope the others will be turned in by their captured accomplice. Thanks SPD!

My kid’s bus stop is near there. Scary stuff! (She’s ok, of course.) Thank you, WSB, for giving us info so we can stay safe!

I’m just glad it didn’t stop the golfing. Wouldn’t want anyone to miss their tee time. :)

Thank you WSB. This happened on my street while I was at work and it is good to know about. We will be double checking our doors when we leave the house and watching the neighborhood for sure.

Golfers seemed to be having lots of fun like usual all afternoon. Thank you SPD for your good work on watching over our neighborhood, giving calm and direct directions, and being patient with my questions.

So, did they REALLY catch 2 of the 3 losers? I couldn’t make the meeting tonight. Please update. Thank you.

This is what uneducated, unemployable, and pathetic losers do at 1pm on a weekday while the rest of us who actually matter work,

jeff, how in the heck do you lose a couple of clubs on the 8th? I hate that hole!

  • Al October 19, 2011 (9:06 am)

Doesn’t the description of the robbers match that of those who attacked the people in the parking lot…in a previous post below…

  • marty October 19, 2011 (10:26 am)

Rick: ProV1’s are golf balls, not clubs..

Sorry, comment time is over.
