West Seattle Crime Watch: Stolen car to watch for; burglary report

Two West Seattle Crime Watch reports tonight, one from the north, one from the south. First – the last stolen car reported here was found by a commenter, and Louie hopes this one will be too:

Last night between 11 pm and 7 am our car was stolen from our driveway on 42nd and Hanford. It was parked just feet from our house and we have a motion light there but it was not enough to stop them. It is a gray Mitsubishi Endeavor 2005 with a cracked front windshield. License # 376-SWA. Please call police with any information!!

And from Rudy:

Wanted to report that a friend who lives on 31st Ave. SW just south of Thistle had her home broken into today in the middle of the day. Burglars tore a screen to the kitchen sliding window in the front of the house, climbed through and took a tv, computer, camera and jewelry. A neighbor reported seeing a male loading something into a black VW Golf and then speeding off.

If you have a Block Watch or are interested in forming one – you might want to be at tomorrow night’s meeting of the West Seattle Blockwatch Captains’ Network, 6:30 pm at the Southwest Precinct (Delridge/Webster) – details here.

Rudy, can you have your neighbor email me at quadgrande at gmail dot com? If they’d rather call that’s fine – WSB can usually relay the message/phone numbers.

I live close to there and have seen two tweaker-looking-guys on bikes in the area the last few weekdays in the afternoons. One is 25-35 and the other is 50-60, white guys and really skinny. They look fishy, and I saw something on Friday that may have been casing, but I’d like to confirm the house. I’ll drive by it today and get the exact address. If your friend’s house is the house I saw them by, I’ll call in and report what I saw – just need a case # and/or which detective is assigned. I will absolutely call 911 the next time I see them. Since I’m new to the neighborhood I wasn’t sure whether they lived there, but the more I think about it I think they didn’t belong.

I’d also love to get a blockwatch going. I just bought my house and was told by another neighbor that “we just haven’t gotten around to formalizing a blockwatch.” I’d be happy to captain or co-captain it.

I’m so sorry this happened. Being burglarized is such a huge violation!

Josie – please send us e-mail at editor@westseattleblog.com if you haven’t already, so that we can report your car theft (as we do with others) as a separate story – TR
