West Seattle Crime Watch: Pellet-gun attack

Just out of the inbox from Nick, who says this happened less than two hours ago, about 10:30 pm:

Hey, just wanted to let people know that I was jogging Friday night in Seaview on 48th Ave SW between SW Findlay St & SW Brandon St [map] when I got hit about 20 times by some punks with what I’m pretty sure were fully automatic pellet guns. Luckily I was wearing long shorts and a baggy sweatshirt so I only got hit 3 times on my body, but they left some decent-sized marks, including a raised welt on my wrist. Didn’t get the plates at the time as I didn’t think of it until about 15 seconds after they were gone, but it was an average-sized sedan with either a black or dark colored paint job. Multiple people inside, they were heading north. I believe this is similar to a story I read on here not too long ago if I’m not mistaken. I reported it when I got home. Let’s get these cowards off our streets, people. They can really hurt you if you were to get hit in the eye or something.

Nick may be referring to this Crime Watch roundup, which included a report of pellets/BBs fired at a West Seattle home.

Our back window was shot at with a BB or pellet gun. Quarter sized chip with small BB sized hole in the middle. We live on 30th ave SW in Highpoint. We need to figure out who these people are!

A friend at work had the same thing happen. She was walking home from the junction down 48th last weekend. She was hit in the hand and it left a pretty good welt.

Has this made the broader Puget Sound news? It should so we get the word out and catch these criminals. Assault with a deadly weapon so they should do some hard time.

ZS, I don’t know who else the victim reported it to – it was barely an hour old when he sent it to us. The “broader Puget Sound news” checks WSB multiple times daily. If they want to pick it up, they will, as they have with other stories. Otherwise – it will be seen here by more West Seattleites than if it appeared anyplace else (30,000 regular readers, and there’s no regional news source of any type that has that many WS readers/viewers), and in this case, it seems to be local idiots, so getting the word out around WS would seem to matter most, rather than telling people in Issaquah about pellet-gun shooters in WS – I hope someone will see or hear something and call police fast – when you call 911, if something has JUST happened, please stress the “now” aspect, because that makes the difference in how they prioritize – TR

Eventually these kids will shoot somebody carrying a concealed weapon and the outcome won’t be a welt on the hand. Again, parents wrangle your kids in, even if they are over 18 years old.

What if someone got hit in the eye? Kids these days!

Mike: well said. As my usual rant goes, “say hello to my little friend”. I am convinced that in the future, these little vermin will use a more violent weapon resulting in a disastrous outcome.

I just wanted to get this out there because from the recent reports/comments I’ve read, this seems to be happening quite frequently now and I have a feeling it’s mostly from the same group of people going out on a joy ride to shoot at people. I think the best way to catch them would be as simple as getting their plates. So be on the lookout, people.

I have had 2 friends in the admiral area both get hit last weekend also. These kids need to be caught. One of the had his 3 year old daughter that was almost hit also!

Wow, …. As a vet with PTSD. This is becoming a scary environment here in west Seattle. And it will only get worse until these kids are caught. I’m getting my concealed carry permit Monday. I never thought that would be necessary in this country, let alone, West Seattle. Sad…..

Sorry, comment time is over.
