Tuesday night traffic alert: M’s, Sounders, Spokane Street Viaduct

Heads up! This Tuesday has a confluence that might be a bit problematic between here and downtown. The Mariners and Sounders BOTH have 7 pm (ish) home games this Tuesday night (Sounders schedule here; M’s schedule here). If either runs really long, or if you hang out in the stadium zone afterward, remember Tuesday’s also the first of three scheduled late-night westbound closures for the Spokane Street Viaduct (as SDOT announced here), aka the West Seattle Bridge between 99 and I-5.

I didn’t think two games could happen at the same time. I always envisioned one game at Safeco and another game at the key and what gridlock there would be. But now one at Safeco and one at Qwest field will be horrible with twice the amount of traffic going to the same place. Wish I could take tomorrow off.

I agree with Celeste. I seem to remember an agreement that the two venues were not allowed to host major events at the same time.

    .

Of course, that may have been pre-Sounders, but still the policy should hold.

This isn’t the 1st time (this season at least) there’s been an M’s and Sounders game. Getting out of WS is sooooo sucky! Traffic gets backed up over the top of the Bridge.

Sorry, comment time is over.
