OutWest Bar followup: Sign’s up, ‘grand opening’ this weekend
August 16, 2011 at 1:27 pm | In West Seattle news, West Seattle restaurants, WS beverages | 10 Comments
Update on OutWest Bar, which opened for business at 5401 California SW, albeit in “soft open” mode, last Thursday (as reported here): WSB contributor Keri DeTore says the awning’s finally been redone with the LGBT-friendly bar’s name (we saw it being painted just yesterday) and co-owners Bob Lunke and Chad Gabelein have announced their grand opening for this weekend — Friday and Saturday nights. Their official operating hours are settled, too – Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 4 pm to midnight, Friday and Saturday 4 pm to 2 am, Sundays 4 pm to midnight.

Hopefully this means they’ll remove the butcher paper on the windows…

is this a gay bar?

A fun easy place to hang out… Went there last week and – while I am not a huge bar guy – I liked this one a lot! Great diverse crowd – kinda like West Seattle…. (The paper comes down soon – when they get the curtains up. I asked!)

Went there today and had a martini. Very tasty! I believe that this establishment is a positive addition to the neighborhood and to West Seattle. I encourage you to stop by and check it out…

Does anyone know if they will serve food? If so, this could be my new hangout since I live just down the street.

Went there on the grand opening night. Great setup, good and friendly staff, good drinks etc. Think it should be a success… HOWEVER
As an transplant, WHY are seattle people so rude and antisocial? Seriously, you can’t say “excuse me” when your drunk self bumps into me? And would it KILL you guys to say hello and introduce yourself as you’re undressing me with your sleazy eyes?
I had such high hopes of meeting cool people in WS, and see you guys all over. Too bad you’re all too good to make a new friend.

I had wanted to stop by and did drive by but it looks closed so I didn’t stop in. I may try again but if they are operating with the butcher paper up, I don’t think I will come in for a drink. Don’t really like the feeling that I have to hide or be hidden.

Had a great time there Saturday. Lots of nice people!
Suggestion: get rid of the huge flags in the windows. Not needed. This is Seattle after all. The sign on the door is enough.
