The scene’s clearing, but in case you passed by and wondered – the police/fire response at 35th and Barton (map) this past hour was for a bicycle-car collision. Police were still sorting out how it happened but told us that no one was hurt badly enough to be taken to the hospital. It happened on the northwest side of the intersection.

I know the first one didn’t involve a car, but it just seems surprising to have two bike crashes at the same place on the same day. Maybe an oil slick on the road or something?
The one mentioned in the bicyclist’s first-person story this morning happened last night – I wasn’t able to publish it till this morning. – TR
I don’t think the crash story posted today actually happened today, but it doesn’t make it any safer of an intersection!
I hasten to point out this is not the only story today mentioning a car crash. Cars crash all the time causing injury and death. I’ll concede, as I have before, that some cyclists behave really badly – though I have no idea if that was a factor here,…BUT cars are really dangerous. More dangerous than a tornado in the southern Midwest, every day of the year.
this intersection is dangerous. we tried to cross from 7-11 to Tony’s last weekend and almost got hit by 3 separate cars turning left onto Barton from southbound 35th.
This intersection clearly needs turn arrow lights. It is ridiculous at that intersection.
