Just forwarded to us, the official Seattle Public Schools letter announcing that interim principal Ruth Medsker is now permanent principal of West Seattle High School. This comes two weeks after a meeting at the school seeking feedback on how she’s been doing since taking over WSHS this school year. Here’s the letter from interim Superintendent Dr. Susan Enfield – in part, it says of the feedback the district received about Medsker:

We heard that Ms. Medsker has provided the school with strong leadership and she holds students and staff to high standards. Under her guidance, West Seattle High School has developed a‚ź£more consistent schedule that facilitates increased focus on instruction. Staff are benefiting from a newly structured Professional Learning Community format, and the school is in the process of creating a registration process and master schedule that will work best for students.

  1. Congratulations, Ms. Medsker. I have heard nothing but praise from WSHS teachers that I have been in contact with this year.

Keep up the good work, my family supports your efforts.

  2. This is great news for West Seattle High School and the West Seattle Community. After hearing of the many positive changes and hearing about the overall positive direction this school is taking under the leadership of Principal Medsker, I am now more confident than ever about WSHS being the right choice for my middle schooler in a few years. Looking forward to hearing more positive news about quality education in W. Seattle!

Everything was fine before medsker came to ws. And knisley..whew shes a joke, ws is a high school, not a middle school, so stop treating ws like its madison and stop trying to make it one!!
