West Seattle Crime Watch: Saturday roundup (in progress)

First report: Somebody stole Rob‘s car:

Heads up in North Delridge: My truck was stolen between 6:00 PM and 9:00 AM [Thursday night-Friday morning].
It’s an old crappy Maroon Toyota xcab pickup. Not sure if anybody else has had problems in the last week with stolen vehicles in the area but I thought I would put the word out.

From Oliver:

My wife went out to pick up dinner last night and noticed 3 teens breaking into a truck on her way home (right by 41st and edmonds). She called 911 and the teens noticed her on the phone looking at them and ran off. Two of them had bikes. She received a call from an officer a little while later checking up on the description she gave – but we’re yet to hear more.

Just thought this is something you should know so you can warn others! It happened around 8 pm last night – still daylight outside!

(added 5:51 pm) Lisann shares the story of a close call:

(Thursday) night my nephew and were coming home from Seattle and were driving home
in Admiral. We were on 37th Ave S.W. at about 12:15 last night when a car started follow us. I took the car around some big blocks and did some evasive driving and headed right down 35th Ave SW to the 7-11 there. We waited a moment and then went to go N on 35th back home. The car chasing us came into 7-11 and flipped around to continue to menace us. My nephew was calling 911 by then. He saw that we had a phone and he reacted as if we had his license plate and went in reverse on 35th and went down Avalon. We waited inside of 7-11 for the police to arrive. The night crew at 7-11 is awesome! The car went by again going S on 35th. The police came and went looking for him. It felt like it was going to be an attempted robbery or carjacking. Be warned!

We asked Lisann what the car looked like – she described it as a “white 4 door sedan Malibu or Nissan, pretty beat up. The car had a nice grille, seemed out of place with the rest of the car.”

Yikes! Sounds like the car that I saw at Thriftway … looked like they were making a drug deal … saw me watching and took off!

friday night (saturday morn 2am-ish)
I woke up to a very low flying helicopter. Looking out the window I saw it was the police with a search light. This was in White Center near 15th and roxbury. They flew around for about an hour. I can’t find any information anywhere on what was happening. Does anyone know?

Pfeller – Unfortunately we didn’t hear about this till someone mentioned it to us on Twitter yesterday afternoon. After-the-fact info is almost impossible to get on weekends. I will be checking tomorrow but in the meantime, if you ever hear something like that again, please consider calling us at 206-293-6302 (or texting 2062936302@vtext.com) – that is our 24/7 line and checking out that sort of thing is a big part of what we’re here for. Sometimes, even if we just put a line on the site like “just heard from Pfeller, who says a chopper’s circling in White Center, we’re checking on it” that brings out comments from other people who checked the site hoping we’d have something, but didn’t contact us, and in turn maybe even someone who actually knows where on the ground the activity is located, which then in turn helps us find out more from police or perhaps even go to the scene to see what’s up. Curious about all the police presence around the junction on Saturday night. We were driving into West Seattle via the bridge and saw three cop cars corner in a car at the Midas and then two minutes later saw the police cars racing up Oregon.

Driving through the junction, south on California, saw a couple of dark vehicles and a cop car just across Table 35. What was going on last night that had the police in such a big hoopla?

i woke to the helicopter @roxbury and 15th too. i have not been able to find out anything either. i did look at the blog at about 3, since last time you guys were on it asap! i’m curious what it was this time.

Only because somebody that time either called or texted us. Tips are vital. We won’t hear a chopper ourselves unless it happens to be in the Gatewood/Fauntleroy/Westwood vicinity (and trust me, it’s almost comical, every time we hear one, we rush out the door to see what kind it is! we’re under the Boeing Field eastward approach so we hear a lot of aircraft heading in that direction).
