Monday photos: Tony’s Produce opens; Justice hoofs it; 747; SUN!

As promised when we dropped by for a sneak peek two weeks ago, Tony’s Produce at 35th/Barton (map) has opened for the season as of today. 8 am till 7 pm. When we talked to Tony last month, he mentioned stocking more organics; today’s specials include organic blueberries. They were still stocking the stand when we dropped by around noontime, so you’ll have to see for yourself what else they’ve set out. Just a few blocks east of Tony’s, Becky snapped and shared this:

That’s Justice the police horse, seen at Westwood Village. (If you didn’t know this already – SPD’s Mounted Patrol has its headquarters in Highland Park, adjacent to Westcrest Park.) Now, we head north, for a West Seattleite’s view of today’s high-flying milestone – Scott C shared this photo of the aviation milestone everyone’s watching today, the 747-8’s first flight:

Speaking of the sky, the skyline shot you’ve seen a thousand times nonetheless had a nice touch when we stopped by Seacrest early this afternoon, with the drifting clouds:

Tomorrow looks even better.

Beautiful picture by Scott C of the 747-8’s first flight and I must add: WOO HOO 747-8!

Tony’s is open, the mounted patrols are out, and a beautiful plane flies against a backdrop with some blue around it. If you tell me the water taxi is sailing next week I am going to wonder if, somehow, miraculously, we managed to skip winter this year. Viva El Nino!

BL, I *wish* it was next week. April 4 is just 8 weeks away! We did photograph the new pilings for the water taxi dock while dallying at Seacrest … checking on the progress of the REST of the dock … TR

Good grief, what is the need for a horse in Westwood Village?
Who has to clean up the droppings?
    I’m sure the uniform won’t.
Don’t tell me that people in wheelchairs and walkers have to negotiate piles of horse manure.
They get enough of that from the evening news.
    FWIW, I protest.

OT, the police explained that to us the last time we got a photo of the Mounted Patrol at WV – they take them there to get them used to traffic, so they can safely work in other areas of the city.

    .
Funny, that photo was almost exactly one year ago! Maybe it’s an “every February” thing.

I can see old timer’s point about the horse poop, but what better way to condition the horses for encountering the drivers going 50 on the arterials, than to have them negotiate the Westwood parking lot with the drivers going 30? ;)
