American Express, Delta and Northwest employees are inviting local parents, students, teachers and other community members to help perform a variety of transformational activities at Concord International School. Projects will include murals that celebrate the schools’ multi-cultural community, the installation of a student-created mural depicting the city skyline, grounds cleanup and graffiti paint-out, and much more.

In June, branch manager Theresa Mayer accepted a new position as Outreach Services Manager at the Central Library, coordinating programs and services to immigrant and refugee communities and the Library Equal Access Program serving people with disabilities. We’ll miss Theresa, but wish her well in her new position! Jane Appling is our new branch manager (and branch manager of South Park) as of early July. Most recently, Jane served as the Library Services’ Operations and Analysis Manager. She offers extensive and varied public library experience, a very insightful perspective, and a passion for serving the community. Come and meet her on September 19! SUNDAY MORNING: (Not in WS but of regional interest) Join nearly 20,000 people coast-to-coast on Sunday, September 20, 2009 as we pound the pavement to put an end to liver disease. Participants in the Liver Life Walk make a difference by raising the critical funds to support research grants, public education and advocacy all in an effort to increase awareness and progress in the fight against liver disease. Over 250 people locally are expected to join us for this first time event to be held at Magnuson Park in Seattle. FREE registration begins at 7:30am and the WALK begins at 9:00am.
