West Seattle door-to-door alert: Clipped by a hedge-trim offer

A warning just in from Molly – read on:

A neighbor was approached by a man driving a white pickup truck with a blue thunderbolt on the side-proposing hedge trimming. The man requested money up front in cash. The man said he was homeless, and intimidated the neighbor who hired him. The man was not licensed or bonded, and did not complete the job.

The man is slender, white, about 6’1″ tall, with a long brown ponytail. He has been seen cruising the neighborhoods south of the Fauntleroy Ferry. My neighbor requested I spread the news to warn other people about the man.

  1. Pretty sure this was the same guy that we hired early this spring (Arbor Heights). I forget his name! We were trying to give him the benefit of the doubt and hired him take out a massive hedge in our front yard. He did it very affordably (I think he underestimated the size of the job). It did take him longer than expected, but he did work hard and came back to finish the job (we did NOT give him all the money upfront, though).

However, he was kinda crazy and very rude/intimidating to a neighbor, so we wouldn’t recommend him because of that. Not good.
